How to Build a Farm Fence

How to Build a Swimming Pool Fence

Building a swimming pool fence should adhere to the stringent guiding principles of the building code. Drowning has been the most common reason of death for children aged 5 year and under.  To prevent these accidental deaths, it is important to construct a well-built fence around the swimming pool.

Pool registration and fencing permit should comply with the new pool safety standards before proceeding to the fence construction. Once materials are complete, building a swimming pool fence is now ready for construction. Keep in mind that this should be done within 6 months from the opening of the pool.

To stop children from climbing the fence, it should measure four feet or above. Any traction should be prevented to avoid the kids from placing their hands or feet in between. The planks should not be too far apart to small bodies can’t slip in. Children are very curious that they would love to do anything just to satisfy their curiosity. As most of the kids love water, it is impossible that they will not find ways to get in.

When building a swimming pool fence make sure that you secure the post to the panel sturdily as this will support in holding the fence. The pre-mixed concrete should force tight and secure well the posts.

You need double check that screws are well attached to the previous panel to ensure that these posts will not get destroyed easily.  Any mishaps or insecurities can lead to the damage of the fence. Kids can easily lift it or bump it to fall for them to go to the swimming pool.

For the kids’ safety, pool gates should open out, however; you will have to decide which side it will swing from you. Pool safety latched should be mounted and screwed correctly. Gate opening should be between 30 to 35mm wider. Make sure that the latched attached is easily reached by children. Latched attached should be self-closing and self-latching for better security.

Double checks that there are no other structures close to the fence where the kids can use to climb the fence. If there is, just change the location of the gate to avoid untoward accidents.  The gate similar to the panels must never be climbable.

Always remember when building a swimming pool fence, it is a must to get the necessary requirements. If you have any doubts on the measurement or on how your fence was built, consult your local board. Make sure that you meet their approval so you will not have everything redone.

It is every pool owner’s responsibility to ensure that the fence is built for security and with the local government’s approval. A fine of $5000 will be given to those who do not comply with the austere policies that the local government has formed. The fence should be well-maintained at all times.

If children are near the swimming pool, adults should be there to supervise and assists the kids to prevent them from going to the water or drowning.
